Since last school year, the Metro League has faced a significant change, altering certain dynamics of the league. The introduction of Seattle Academy to the league has notable impacts on various Metro teams. This change will include Seattle Academy’s first baseball team. For many years, Garfield’s baseball team has partially relied on the talents of players at Seattle Academy who played for the Bulldogs because their school didn’t offer a team. Just last year, multiple starters on Garfield’s roster were Cardinals. This change will also impact athletes at other schools with SAAS athletes such as Roosevelt, Ballard, and other Seattle Public School baseball teams. This change is effective beginning this year, and Garfield’s baseball team will have to rely on new starters to carry out their goals this year. This season will be a rebuilding year for the program as they tackle this set back. With the addition of SAAS to the league, Metro also lost Lincoln High School. The relatively new school has quickly boomed in size, as they only just opened in the fall of 2019. Lincoln moved up to the 4A King County league playing with teams like Kamiak, Inglewood, Woodinville, Jackson and others.
